Airbus A380 takeoff from San Francisco (cockpit view)

We can sit into the cockpit of a Lufthansa Airbus A380-800 (LH455 Super) and follow the pilots for the whole take off procedure - preparation, pushback, taxiing and takeoff.

The pilots speak in mixed English and German. English is used when communication with ATC otherwise mostly German for discussion among the three pilots and the crew. Subtitles are available in English.

Interesting facts about this flight

This is one of the last flights for Jürgen Raps before his retirement. Ha had been Chief Pilot of the German Lufthansa. He says farewell to SFO airport with waving the wings of the aircraft a few times. This is "standard procedure" for retiring pilots.
